Macintosh IIcx

Mac IIcx

Manufacturer: Apple Computer
Machine Type: IIcx
Model Number:
Serial Number: F92175KM5685
Current Status: Complete and working
Acquired: 1998
Remarks:
This computer was purchased for $25 which is rather high but was the first non-compact Macintosh model that joined the collection. The CX model comes with no video installed although this model came with a Radius two-page display. Later, the machine was fitted with a 1bit video card which gives basic monochrome video. 5 meg of memory is installed and an 80 meg hard drive is inside running system 7.0.1. Initially the floppy drive did not work but finally started working after regreasing the mechanism and cleaning the R/W head many times. A Radius Rocket was also installed whic is a 68040 coprocessor board with 8 meg installed. Unfortunately, it locks the machine up when it reboots the second time with the Rocket enabled and have not been able to source the problem. Radius' tech support could not provide an answer either. There are extensions installed that allows the Apple CD300 CDROM drive to work with this unit. The machine pictured shows a Hammer 100meg external hard drive, Mac Plus mouse and Apple Keyboard II and a monochrome monitor that shows a program running called Despair, which lets you unleash various disasters on people running on the screen.
